Cong. Wilbert “Manoy” T. Lee’s advocacy to reduce the out-of-pocket healthcare costs for Filipinos is receiving widespread support. In a recent interview, House Deputy Majority Leader Janette Garin supported Lee’s efforts to lower healthcare expenses, stating, “Tama naman ‘yung advocacy niya, kasi nga ang kinukuwestiyon niya ay bakit malaki pa rin ang out-of-pocket expenditure ‘pag tayo’y nagkakasakit.”
Lee’s commitment to healthcare reform has led to several victories, including a recent 50% increase in PhilHealth benefits. His advocacy to ease the burden on Filipino families is also backed by former Department of Finance Undersecretary Cielo Magno, who noted Lee’s consistent push to ensure that government promises for healthcare reform are fulfilled.
“Kapag nakalampas kasi ang budget ng DOH nang hindi natin natiyak ang kanilang commitment, idi-dribble na naman tayo hanggang sa susunod na budget season,” Lee said.
His efforts have successfully drawn attention to the urgent need for healthcare reform and immediate action from the government.
