Cong. Manoy Wilbert “Wise” Lee celebrated the signing of the Philippine Salt Industry Development Act, which shall modernize salt production and uplift the livelihoods of salt farmers. The law includes capacity-building programs and incentives for modern technologies, allowing year-round salt production even under changing weather patterns. Apart from revitalization of the salt industry, this will also create 10,000 jobs across the country, especially in rural areas.
“We can now avoid importing 90% of our salt needs and provide better opportunities for local producers,” Lee stated, as he emphasized the importance of this law in boosting the local economy.
